What is the most common type of epigenetic change?
Solution
Epigenetic changes are external modifications to DNA that leads to genes turn on or turn off. These changes cannot alter the sequence of the DNA, but externally modify the DNA sequence by adding some groups.
Eg. Epigenetic changes that alter the Structure of DNA. It os by Acetylation and Deacetylation reactions to Histones.
The most common form of Epigenetic change is Methylation and Demethylation. Dam and Dcm methylases methylates A & C bases of the DNA and modify them. This leads to expression or Supression of Genes.
Epigenetic changes also reponsible for Imprinting and also Uniparental gene effect
