Three Einstein solids are allowed to interact with each other. They have N, 2N, and 3N particles respectively. In the high temperature limit an amount of energy 6*Q is given to the system. a. Estimate the total number of microstates available to the system as a whole. b. Find the most probable macrostate and its probability. c. Find the least probable macrostate and its probability.

Solution

a)Total number of microstates = N+2N+3N = 6N

b)Most stable Macrostate is 3N.
Probability = 3/6 = 1/2 =0.5 Answer

c)Least stable Macrostate is N.
Probability = 1/6 = 0.16 Answer
