THERMODYNAMICS HOMEWORK DUE TOMORROW PLEASE HELP ASAP.
Propane at 70 C and 101.3 kPa is compressed isothermally to 1500 kpa. Calculate the change in enthalpy for the process by a suitable generalized correlation.
Solution
Basically enthalpy is
chnage in enthalpy is equal to sum of change in iternal energy and change in PV
dH = dE + d(PV)
for isothermal process dE=0 ( as there is no change in temperature.)
As they havent mentioned anything take propane as ideal gas
for ideal PV= mRT
as T is constant PV = constant
Therfore d(PV) = 0
so dH = 0+0 = 0
