The working principle of Positive displacement compressors is that first of all it draws in and capture a volume of air inside a confined chamber and then it reduces the volume of the chamber so that it compresses the air. In such type of compressors, air gets physically trapped between two relatively moving components and they are further forced to occupy lower volume, thereby the pressure to increase. In simple words, it can be said that Positive displacement compressor work by forcing air into a chamber whose volume is decreased to compress the air.
