What elements of the strategic sourcing process do you feel are the top candidates for improvement at South Face, and why? How would you respond to the assertion that some of your contract manufacturers are involved in producing illegal merchandise that ends up competing with the branded merchandise of South Face?

1. South face is an area that is desperate for better standards. The veracity of legality is seldom the concern here. What the eye sees and ears hear the mind wants. In such a situation the sourcing process will have no choice to provide the best or the only other choice is to literally KILL the demand. Therefore everything is fair in sourcing process as long as people keep getting what they want whether its permissible or not.

2.South face has problems of unrealistic demands and expectations, the desire to be among the best, never settle for less, promotion of glitter and glamour, race towards glory, accumulation and hoarding of resources, improper distribution and trade practices, enamourment with desirbale skills, neglect of system rules, the desire to rule over every thing, the skill of thumping with force anything you dont like good or bad, merciless competition and struggle for scant resources, the satisfaction of being considered among the best. etc All this puts immense pressure on contract manufacturers to involve in illegal merchandise to avoid civil strife and unrest which becomes rampant and unchecked if not for north face.
