Solution

Capacitation: Capacitation is a process of mammalian sperm maturation In this process glycoprotein coat and the seminal proteins are removed from the acrosome (sperm surface) with the help substances secreted in female reproductive system (uterus or fallopian tubes). Capacitation allows binding of sperm to oocyte.

Sperm chemotaxis is a guideline for sperm, in which spermatozoa (sperm cells) follow a concentration gradient of a chemo attractant secreted by oocyte and therefore sperm find the path to reach oocyte.

Sperm thermotaxis is a guidance for spermatozoa, in which spermatozoa (sperm cell) changes its swimming direction according to a temperature gradient and swimming up the gradient.

Both chemotaxis and thermotaxis are guidelines directs sperm movement towards oocyte. Thermotaxis guides the sperm towards the site of fertilization. Sperm moves from cooler environment (tubal isthmus) to hotter environment (tubal ampulla). Once sperm reaches tubal ampulla (closer to oocyte), the second guide of chemotaxis directs sperm movement towards oocyte.
