Two circular loops of wire each containing a single turn hav

Two circular loops of wire, each containing a single turn, have the same radius of 3.90 cm and a common center. The planes of the loops are perpendicular. Each carries a current of 2.30 A. What is the magnitude of the net magnetic field at the common center?

Solution

magnetic field = mu0 I / (2 r)

= (4 pi x 10-7 x 2.3) / (2 x 3.9 x 10-2)

B1 = B2 = 3.71 x 10-5 T [both perpendicular to each other ]

net magnetic field = sqrt (B12 + B22)

= 5.25 x 10-5 T
