Solve the following system by solving one of the equations f

Solve the following system by solving one of the equations for x or y and then using the substitution method. (If there is no solution, enter NO SOLUTION for each answer. If there are infinitely many solutions, enter INFINITELY MANY for each answer.) x -4y = -3 x- 3y = 0 (x, y) =) the sum of two numbers is 30. One number is 2 times the other. Find the numbers. (smaller value) (larger value) Diane has dollar 1.60 in dims and nickels, She has a total of 18 coins. How many of each kind does she have? Dimes nickels Suppose Tom has 26 coins totaling dollar4,40. If he has only dimes and quarters, how many of each type does he have? Dimes quarters The Bishop\'s peak 4-club is having its annual fundraising dinner. Adults pay dollar 40 apiece and children pay dollar 25 apiece. If the number of adult tickets sold is twice the number of children\'s tickets sold, and the total income for the dinner is dollar 3,675, how many of each kind of ticket did the 4-H club sell? adults children

Solution

1) x-4y = -3 ---(1)

x-3y =0 ----(2)

from equ (2) : x= 3y

So, substitute in eu 1: 3y -4y =-3 ----> y = 3

x = 3y = 3*3 =9

(x, y) --- ( 9, 3)

2) let the two nos. be x and y :

x+y =30 ----(1)

x = 2y ---(1)

solve by substitution:

2y +y = 30

3y = 30----> y =10

x = 2y = 20

(x, y) ---> ( 20 , 10)

 Solve the following system by solving one of the equations for x or y and then using the substitution method. (If there is no solution, enter NO SOLUTION for e
