How would each of the activities listed below affect stroke
How would each of the activities listed below affect stroke volume? [indicate whether it is increased, decreased, or would have no effect]. Give rationale for each answer
increased sympathetic stimulation of the heart;
increased parasympathetic stimulation of the heart;
decreased end diastolic volume;
blocking calcium entry into the cardiac muscle cell;
increased ventricular end diastolic volume.
Solution
Stroke volume-> Term related to Cardiovascular Physiology.Can defined as the amount of blood ejected by left or right side of the heart.Cardiac functions correlated with Stroke volume.
1.Increased sympathetic stimulation of the heart- Increase stroke volume(sympathetic stimulation is stimulation is related with emotion like fright,Anger.. It Increases Heart rate by Increasing Contractility so it give increase to stroke volume.
2. Increased parasympathetic stimulation of the heart- Increase stroke volume(Parasympathetic stimulation is related with fight or fight response which increase ejection of blood from the heart increase stroke volume
3. Decreased end diastolic volume- Decrease Stroke volume (due to decrese amount of blood ejected from the ventricle during systole(end-diastolic volumethe amount of blood in the ventricles just before systole)
4. Blocking calcium entry into the cardiac muscle cell- Decrease stroke volume (Entry of Calcium in cardiac muscle cell activates contraction viceversa blocking calcium reduces cell activity
5. Increased ventricular end diastolic volume- Increase stroke volume By ncreases the amount of blood ejected from the ventricle
