Given

Axial load (P) = 500 kN

Area of steel = 6 * /4 * 202

                       = 1885 mm2

Area of concrete = Gross area – area of steel

                              = 150 *375 - 1885 = 54.365 *103 mm2

Est = 200 GPa

Ec = 40 GPa

Stress in steel = P/area of steel

                         = 500 * 103/1885

                         = 265.2 N/mm2     Answer

Stress in concrete = P/area of concrete

                                = 500*103/(54.365 *103)

                                = 9.19 N/mm2      Answer
