A 40 y/o male presents with severe pain on his left side and back below the ribs. He describes the pain as spreading to the lower abdomen and groin and comes in waves that fluctuate in intensity. He has painful urination and brownish foul smelling urine. He reports a persistent urge to urinate and urinating more often than usual along with nausea and vomiting.
Solution
The adult human males of age range 35-45 suffer from multiple types of urinary tract infections. Most of these infections are related to prostate gland or urinary bladder. In case of immune-compromised individuals, these infections appear to be more severe.
According to the information, it is suggested that this male patient suffers from renal infection because he is complaining pain in lower abdomen. The observation of persistent urge to urinate and polyuria support the notion of renal and urinary tract infection. Further, appearance of foul-smelling urine with brownigh coloration clearly suggest infiltration of cells in the urine due to nephronic inflammation and renal infection. Since the upper part of urinary tract and renal system seem to be infeected, local edema formation might have led to inflammation and swelling of the large intestine hence the feelings of nausea and vomiting also appear.
As a therapeutic remedy, the patient should be diagnosed with lower abdominal ultrasound along with blood and urine biochemistry analysis to ensure the cause of disease. A combinatorial anti-biotic treatment might help the patient to recover.
