b. what is the probability of flipping 10 tails in a row? Show your work.

c. You flip a coin two times. What is the probability (a) both are heads? (b) tails? (c) one heads and one tails?

Solution

a)

Probability that you will get heads again on your next toss = 1/2 =0.5 Answer

b)

It can be interpreted in this way,

If 10 coins are tossed simultaneously ,total number of outcomes = 2^10

All 10 tail is one case only.

Hence , probability of flipping 10 tails in a row= 1/2^10 = 0.00097 Answer

c)

Sample Space : {HH , HT,TH,TT}

a. P(Both heads) = 1/4 = 0.25

b. P(Both tails) = 1/4 = 0.25

c. P(one head and one tail ) = 2/4 = 0.5
