Which organism in Europe forms a really nice “hybrid zone”?

Solution

Hybrid zone can be defined as the ranges in which two interbreeding species or intraspecific lineages meet and cross fertilise. It can also be said or recognise as areas where genetically distinct populations meet and produce offsprings.. a classic example of these hybrid species in Europe is known as the mouse hybrid zone. This is more prominent in the Central Europe . Two house mouse subspecies were made secondary contact in a particular zone, leading to a hybrid zone. The subspecies were Mus musculus musculus and Mus musculus domesticus. This was done to localise the position of these subspecies more precisely as well as to study introgression patterns of geographically isolated transects of a hybrid zone.
