Renewable energy sources are emphasized over non-renewable sources because of several reasons. Non-renewable sources are depleted in future as time required for its formation is very high where as renewable energy sources are easily available in the nature and can be used extensively as it is non-depleting. Non-renewable energy sources cause environment pollution as these emit greenhouse gases, hazardous radition.

For example, sulphur dioxide resulting from burning coal causes acidification of rain. this acidified rain affects the fertility of soil and also the marine ecology. Uranium is found to effect functioning of kidney in human beings. Fossil fuel burning results in emmission of green house gases mainly carbon dioxide. These green house gases cause increase in earth atmospheric temperature and thus ecology.

On the other hand, renewable energy sources cause little harm to the ecology or nature cycle.
