Need help getting hand calculations for the thickness to com

Need help getting hand calculations for the thickness to compare to my FEA results, thanks!

Solution

Solution:

Shape of vessel is not given, therefore considering as sphere

Volume is given as 10m3

4/3 pi r^3 = 10

r^3 = 2.38

r = 1.336 m

r = 52.61 inch

D = 105.22 inch

Pressure is given as 435 psi

For stainless steel Grade-304 , yield stress is given as 31200 psi

31200 = P D/(4t)

t = 31200 x 4 / (435 x 105.22)

t = 2.7266 inch

safe thickness is coming to be 2.72 inch using yield stress, othewise taking some FOS in refernce to your FEA assumptions ultimate stress can also be used to find t.
