The laminar jet spreading rate r12x defined in Eqn 914 is ba

The laminar jet spreading rate, r1/2/x, defined in Eqn. 9.14 is based on r1/2; i.e., the radial location where the axial velocity is half the centerline value. Evaluate the spreading rate for r1/10/x, where now the radial location is that where the axial velocity has decayed to one-tenth the value on the centerline. Compare r1/10/x with r1/2/x.

Solution

From the above given data spreading rate can be calculated as follows

spreading rate 1 = 45

Sreading rate 2 = 67

The laminar jet spreading rate, r1/2/x, defined in Eqn. 9.14 is based on r1/2; i.e., the radial location where the axial velocity is half the centerline value.
