You have a sample that is possibly contaminated by bacteria
You have a sample that is possibly contaminated by bacteria, for example, E Coli. Propose a design to detect the amount of the bacteria in the sample. Use schematics to illustrate your designs. Describe the biological element and transducing mechanism.
Solution
To calculate the amount of bacteria in the sample we can design a simple experiment that is known as Serial Dilution.. Where we can make number of certain no of dilution like 10^-1, 10^-2 etc and can plate it on the plate..
Through counting the no of bacterial colonies we can calculate the no of C. F. U(colony forming unit) in that dilution an then we can calculate the total number of bacteria present in the original sample..!!
Transducing mechanism is a method in which a foreign DNA of one organism can be inserted into a another bacterial organism through the help of the Biological Element called virus specially phage viruses ..!!
The mechanism is that the phage virus are allowed to infect the bacterial cells.. The phage virus undergo it\'s own replication process where it forms it\'s own body element. In that case the phage undergo lytic cycle which results in the Lysis of the bacteria. Due to the which, while virus packaging the virus also contains the bacterial DNA which I packaged inside them. After Lysis the when the virus comes out of the one bacteria an affect the other the DNA is transferred..
