A fin may be manufactured as an integral part of a surface by using a casting or extrusion process, or it may be separately brazed or adhered to the surface. From thermal considerations which option is preferred?

From thermal consideration, it will be more beneficial if fin is manufactured as an integral part of a surface. Otherwise if separately brazed to the surface there may be possibility of very small air gap and this will increase the thermal resistance.
