A graduate student is conducting a study on the habitat preference of moose. She has collected a total of 305 radio locations on the moose, and for each radio location recorded the habitat types in which the moose was found. The area occuupied by each habitat type is given in the table along with the number of radio locations found in that habitat type. The graduate student would like to know if moose are using the different habitat types in proportion to their availability. Conduct a chi square test.
I\'ve done this multiple times and have 2 different answers. One answer I got was a chi square value of 44.295, and for the second attempt i got a chi square value of 3.52.
If anyone could explain this to me, especially the proportion/finding the expected value part, and tell me if either of my answers are right that would be great!
Thanks in advance.
