Give the slope of each line and the determine whether the two lines are parallel, perpendicular, or neither parallel or perpendicular. Separate answers with a comma.

3x5y=1

5x+3y=2

Solution

Two lines are

(a) 3x5y=1

(b) 5x+3y=2

for (a)  3x5y=1

change the equation into the standard form

first solve for y = (3x + 1) / 5

which gives slope m1 = 3/5

y; intersept (b) is (1/5)

for (b) 5x+3y=2

change the equation into the standard form

first solve for y = (-5x + 2) / 3

which gives slope m2 = -5/3

y; intersept (b) is (2/3)

Relatiomn b/w the slope is

Property = Lines that are perpendicular have negative reciprocal slopes.
(such as m = 2 with m = -1/2)

similarly m1 = 3/5 , m2 = -5/3

Answer

Give the slope of each line and the determine whether the two lines are parallel, perpendicular, or neither parallel or perpendicular. Separate answers with a c
