Why can’t any cells other than B cells express immunoglobulin proteins?

All the cells in our body contain all the information needed to produce all the proteins synthesized in our body. In reality however, all the cells do not secrete or synthesize all the proteins. Each cell type may be specialized to synthesize a particular type of protein. This is due to the process of gene expression by which a specific part of the genome in our bodies is expressed to form a specific protein.

In our bodies, during the development of B cells, the immunoglobulin gene undergoes rearrangements that are necessary for the production of antibodies by our cells. A small number of genes are responsible for the production of all the antibodies in our cells due to a unique method of genetic recombination in the B cells.
