Describe the primary difference between spark-ignition and Diesel reciprocating engines.

Solution

In spark ignition engine,there is a spark plug which initiates the combustion of the gasoline by means of a spark.

BUT,

in case of diesel reciprocating engines,there will be no spark plug, the pressure due to compression of the diesel will cause the ignition process,as diesel has less self ignition temperature when compared to that of gasoline
