1 Given P1 2 3 and P2 35 a Find the distance between the t

1. Given: P1 = (-2, -3) and P2 = (3,-5),

a) Find the distance between the two points.

b) Find the midpoint of the line segment from P1 to P2.

c) What is the slope of the line contaiing the points P1 to P2.

Solution

a)  the distance between the two points.

P1 = (-2, -3) and P2 = (3,-5),

Distance (x) = sqrt [{y2 - y1}^2 + {x2 - x1}^2]

(x) = sqrt {4+25}

b) Mid point

Midpoint = {x2 + x1}/2 , {y2 + y1}/2

= {3+(-2)}/2 , {-5-3}/2

= 1/2 , -4

c) slope =   {y2 - y1}/{x2 - x1}

= (-5+3)/(3+3)

= 2/6

Answer
