A large block of wood has the shape of an isosceles trapezoi

A large block of wood has the shape of an isosceles trapezoid, as shown in the figure. The bottom end of the block has a width of w_b = 1.75 m, and the top end has a width w_1 = 1.23 m. If the center of gravity of the block is located a distance h_cg = 1.11 m directly above the midpoint of the base, what is the maximum tipping angle that the block can undergo before tumbling over? Assume the total height of the block is 2.365 m. If the block were resting on its narrow end, how far could it be tipped from that position without it falling over?

Solution

The maximum tipping angle is 6.78degree.

Block will 5.5 m without falling from the position.
