b) Range and mean stresses of the stress history.

c) If the stress history in Fig. 2 replaces with a stress history from 0 to -20 Ksi, please explain which stress history is more damaging.

Here the range is between 0-20 ksi

The mean stress is (0+20)/2= 10 ksi

If the stress history is replaced to 0 to -20 ksi then the effect would be the same except that it is compressive stress and also since the material is not defined we cant exactly say which is more damaging.

If this is for brittle material first case would be damaging and if ductile material both cases would be same.
