vary the strengths of 70opc 30ggbs at 3days7days and 28 days
vary the strengths of 70%opc +30%ggbs at 3days,7days and 28 days strengths?
Solution
Nowadays Ground Granulated Blast furnace is being added to the ordinary portland cements which is an excellent binder between the cement and the concrete. The ggbs is formed by quenching molten iron blast furnace slag immediately in water or stream, to form a glassy granular product and that is then dried and then to fine powder.Few of the advantages of using the ggbs are it increase the solidifying time,
-increases the slump retention,which is beneficial for construction work during summer;
-the binder has higher cohesiveness which does not segregate easily,
-It reduces the concrete bleeding
As of the strength development:
The replacement by the ggbs have a great effect on the development of the strength of the concrete,so depending upon the type of construction the pecentage of the ggbs in the cement can be found out experimentally.
Under the curing conditions, High Slag Cement Concrete with 30-50% replacement ratio would achieve 50 – 60% compressive strength of plain concrete in 3 & days, 70 – 80% achieved in 7 days, and its compressive strength is equivalent to plain concrete’s in 28 days and continues to grow since then.
