Vertical component of 1300N = 1300×5/12= 541.67N

Horizontal component of 500N= 500 cos 45= 409.5. N

Resultant=sqrt(541.67^2 + 409.5^2)= 678.9

Angle with horizontal, theta=

inverse tan(541.67/409.5)= 52.89^0

We will keep the resultant at a distance d from O so that resultant equals original system

541.67× d= -750 + 500 cos45-541.67×2

d= 2.25 m

So resultant force 678.9 acts at 2.25 m from O
