In the circuit below calculate the CURRENT in the resistor i

In the circuit below, calculate the CURRENT in the resistor (in mAmps) if R1 = 1,089 Ohms and V1 = 10 V. Assume that the forward bias voltage is 0.7V and that the saturation current is zero. Give the answer to within 5%.

SR D1

Solution

Apply KVL to the circuit

V1-IR1-Vd=0

IR1=V1-Vd

I= V1-Vd/R1

given that V1=10 volts , R1=1089 ohms and Vd=0.7

then I= 10-0.7/1089

I=8.53milli amperes

Therefore I= 8.53 mA
