the treatments are front, middle and back. need to compare these effect are same or not

What is the explanatory variable? What type of variable is this?

you will assign 1 ,2 ,3 to these 3 batch of students. these are called categorical variable. As you are categorized front, middle and back students by 1,2 and 3 resp.

What is the response variable? What type of variable is this?

response variable is the marks of the students of front, middle and back. This variable is called continuous variable

What are your null and alternative hypotheses?

null hypothesis

H0: batches of front, middle and back has no effect on marks

alternative Hypothesis

H1: batchs has the effect on marks
