Determine equation of the line that has slope m 2 and passe

Determine equation of the line that has slope m = -2 and passes through (-3, 2). [Write your answer in slope intercept form y = mx + b.]

Solution

We know that y = m x + b be the equation of line that has slope m.

But we are given the slope of the equation is m = - 2 and the line is passing through the point ( - 3 , 2 ).

Substitute m = -2 , x = - 3 and y = 2 in y = mx + b we get

2 = - 2(- 3 ) + b implies that b = - 4 .

Therefore , the required equation of line is y = - 2x - 4
