If two genes are right next to each other on the same chroms
If two genes are right next to each other on the same chromsome and are physically linked by a phosphodiester bond, can crossing over still occur?
Solution
Crossing over occurs by exchange of genetic material between non sister chromatid of homologous chromosomes. The frequency of crossing over increases with increased distance between two genes on the same chromosome. So, if two genes are present adjacent to each other on the same chromosome, crossing over is least likely event for them.
