the geodetic height at a particular location is 38681 meters

the geodetic height at a particular location is 38.681 meters. The geoidal undulation is -30.547 meters. What is the stations orthometric height?                 im especially confused because of the negative, other people on chegg are saying one thing while i think its H=h-N....... H=?......h=38.681....N=-30.547 so that would be 38.681-(-30.547)=H....H=69.228                       it might be that the negative for N is just irrelevant but im not sure need help.                                                    please explain all parts thoroughly             thank u chegg god

Solution

h=H+N

h = geodetic (ellipsoidal) height

H = orthometric height

N= geoid height (geoid undulation)

N can be positive or negative

H=h-N

h= 38.681 m

N=-30.547

H= 38.681-(-30.447) =38.681 + 30.447=69.228 m

the geodetic height at a particular location is 38.681 meters. The geoidal undulation is -30.547 meters. What is the stations orthometric height? im especially
