Describe the pathway of blood as it flows from the Right atrium to the Coronary circulation. Begin by stating which vessels empty blood into the Rt. atrium then list all structures and valves involved in the process in the order that blood flows through.

Solution

The Coronary veins empty the deoxygenated blood from myocardium capillaries into the coronary sinus. The coronary sinus empties the blood into the right atrium via its three large tributaries. The blood from right atrium passes to the right ventricles via tricuspid valves and opening of pulmonary valve allows the pulmonary trunk to carry it to the lungs for oxygenation. Now, the oxygenated blood is carried to left atrium by pulmonary veins. The opening of mitral valve enters the blood into the left ventricle. The left ventricle pumps the bloood into aorta upon opening of aortic valves through left and right coronary arteries that originated from the base of aorta. The left coronary artery supplies blood to the interventricular septum, anterior ventricular walls, left atrium, and posterior wall of left ventricle. The right coronary artery suppplies the blood to the most part of right ventricle and right atrium.
