For each of the following questions, state whether or not you would expect the distribution of data to be approximately normal. (Assume all of the data comes from the US.) If you think it would not be normal, explain why not. If you do think it would be approximately normal, give a reasonable guess of the mean and standard deviation. Each question is worth 2 pts.

1. The number of miles driven last year by licensed drivers

Please help. I am having real trouble with this assignment

Solution

this is very relative

for me is approximately normal

why?

because if you have a population (US) and you take a sample of that population

you will have the same distribution ( if population is normal, you would get a normal sample )

and as we know the population in the world distributed normal

because the population are a lot of in the middle age but in the final ages there a few people with more than for example 70 years

and the same for the first years there a few people with years less than 10

why I can say this?

Because you grow up, you will never stop growing, that means that when you are 5 years, next year you will have 6 years and thats the same for all person

So as we can see the population is normal distributed and licensed drivers will be normal distributed

For each of the following questions, state whether or not you would expect the distribution of data to be approximately normal. (Assume all of the data comes fr
