A grain silo is in the shape of a cylinder. The silo has a diameter of 12 feet and a height of 20 feet. How many cubic feet of grain can fit Into this silo? Use 3.14 for pi. Explain how you determined your answer.

  Solution
a) Here we need to find cylindtical cubic feet volume that of grain that can fit in silo
As , Radius of cylinder = (1/2)(diameter) = (1/2)(12) = 6
Volume of circular cylinder = ()(radius^2)(height) = ()(6^2)(20) = 720 = 2261.94 cubic feet
b)
So cubic feet of grain that can fit in silo =Silo Capacity = Volume of Cylinder
