Phospholipids are a group of complex amphipathetic molecules containing phosphoric acid along with fatty acids, nitrogenous base and alcohol.

Classes of Phospholipids:

1. Phosphoglycerides or Glycerophospholipids : These phospholipids contain glycerol as the alcohol. They are present in the biological membranes. They contain C1 esterified with glycerol-3-phosphate and C2 esterified with fatty acid.

Types of phosphoglycerides:
