2.What are the four fundamental learning styles? Define each style and provide a specific example of each based on your understanding. Then identify with the one learning style that best defines your learning style and why.

3. Are learning and transfer of training related? Please explain your answer in detail. A good example will get you full credit on this response.

4.Define each of the four stages of the learning cycle and provide an example of each of the four stages.

Solution

1. Maslow\'s hierarchy of needs is a theory which was proposed by Maslow. The theory deals with the human psychology. It deals with the stages of growth in humans.

The hierarchy of needs are represented in the form of a pyramid, with the most basic level of needs at the bottom of the pyramid. The pyramid represents the four different levels of motivation that could occur at any point in time and the order in which they occur.

The order are: physiological, safety, love, esteem, self actualization. The first and the most basic need is physiological - i.e physical needs of the body in terms of air, water, food. Safety, as a means of motivation, comes after the physical needs are met. It includes physical safety, financial safety etc. Love is the third level and includes friendship, family etc. Esteem is the need for respect. Self actualization is the need to realize one\'s full potential.

Maslow\'s theory can impact trainees motivation to training and learning. A person who has met the first 4 levels (i.e his needs are satisfied for the first 4 levels) will use training and learning as a tool to realize his potential. A trainee who is just at the start of his career will use learning to improve his skills so he can meet his physiological and safety (mainly financial safety at this point) needs.
