 In the above scenario, having a cumulative percent of 50% means that:
50% scored higher than a 74 on the test
50% scored an 80 or below on the test
50% scored at or higher than an 80 on the test
50% scored at or below a 79 on the test
 
 I know the answer is at/below a 79, but I do not know how to work it out.
Solution
There are 16 scores here, so a 50% cumulative percent is at the 8th entry, 79.
[50% of 16 = 8, so 8th entry is what we are looking at]
Thus, as we accumulate from the lowest to highest, then cumulative 50% includes the ones below 79.
OPTION D: 50% scored at or below a 79 on the test.
