4. Given the following, what is the work completed? Force is 30 N and the distaee in d1 5. Given the following, what is the work completed if the force is 25N and the distance is 20 m d2 Given the following, tell me what is going to happen to the box. Show your calculations, then explain in words the all the calculations. Fl - 20 N, and F2-18N 6. F1 F2 20\" 30\"

Solution

You can calculate the energy transferred, or work done, by multiplying the force by the distance moved in the direction of the force.

1.

work done = force x displacement in direction of force

work done = 30N * 10ft

work done = 30N * 3.048 m

work done = 91.44 J (joule)

2.

Taking component in the direction of motion,

Fx= Fcos30o = 25cos30o= 21.65N

Therfore work done will be,

work done = 21.65N * 20m

work done = 433 J

3. Since two forces are acting on the box, we can either resolve it into a common resultant force or make use of its components to get the desired result.

Since both forces vertical component will be acting downward, and as no motion is possible there would be no work in vertical direction.

Therefore we are intrested in horizontal component only,

Therefore, Horizontal components are,

F1x = 20 cos 30o = 17.32 N ()

F2x = 18 cos20o= 16.914 N ()

Therefore net force in Horizontal direction is () right direction, This will cause the box to move in right direction.

Note: effect of friction is neglected.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Good Day!
