Define what it means for something to be a cation. Give two examples of a cation (you will need to use your text or a search engine).

Solution

For ions to be cation, it should be more number of protons than electrons. A cation is an atom or a molecule, which is positively charged.

For example

Sodium (Na+),

Iron (Fe2+)

Sodium atomic number is 11. It has 11protan and 11 electrons so net charge is 0.

In electrolysis process, it lose one electron from its outermost shell and get one + charge.
