I have a rectangular container 22cm long, 18 cm wide and 14 cm high. My container has water 9cm deep. How much more water can I pour into my conainer before it overflows?
Solution
Volume of rectangular container : Length x width x height = 22 x 18 x14 = 5,544 cm3
Volume of water present in container = Lenght of container x width of container x ( deep ) height = 22 x 18 x 9
= 3654 cm3
Remaining water that can be filled more before it overflows = total volume of container - volume of water initially
= 5544 - 3654
= 1980 cm3
Answer: 1980 cm3 more water you can pour into my conainer before it overflows
