In the 4th edition Math for Teachers, I need help with chapter 8.3 Homework Exercise # 10.
How many squares are in the following design?
The design has 9 squares each being divided an X. I have tryed to reason this out. Is there a formular for this?
Solution
here picture of desing is not given so i will assume there are 9 square boxes, and you want to divide each box in shape of X.
that means each square box is divided into 4 boxes.
hence 9 square boxes will generate 9*4=36 boxes.
you can say formula is 4b, where b= number of square boxes.
