Complete the following short answer questions:

1.  Design an Ethernet network to connect a single client PC to a single server. Both the client and the server will connect to their respective workgroup switches via UTP. Their workgroup switches are connected directly by a trunk link. The two switches are 1,700 meters apart. They need to communicate at 500 Mbps. Your design should specify the transmission link between the switches.
2.  Add to your design in the previous question. Add another client next to the first client. This client will also communicate with the server and need only 100 Mbps in transmission speed. Again, your design should specify the locations of switches and the transmission link between the switches.

3.  How do you think the above risks can be avoided in the POE Plus standard?

4.  In what instances would it make sense to use an unmanaged switch?
5.  What is the best means for mitigating the single points for failure on an Ethernet network?
6.  Give two business-use examples for each fiber types.

Solution

4-An unmanaged switch simply used to provide communication between two or more Ethernet devices, such as a PC or network printer. They are provided with fixed configuration and do not allow any changes to this configuration.

It behaves like a “plug and play” device .As,It cannot be configured and simply allows the devices to communicate with one another.

They are typically the most affordable switches, and therefore often used in a small office/home office environment.

5-To mitigating the single points for failure on an Ethernet network you can use following steps these steps are somehow expensive butt have ability to reduce chanches of failure upto a great extand-

Firstly, you should always have a minimum of 2 to3 domain controllers for every domain. Atleast two muat be there.

Never place all location of your domain controller with each other or in the same place

Always deploy redundant copies of all the systems basically means your DNS system.

In each domain deploy two or more NICs so they can be accessed through multiple pathways.
