A die is rolled 60 times with the following result:

1,2,3 each come up 8 times,

4,5,6, each come up 12 times

E is the event that the number that comes up is at most 4

Determine the relative frequency P(E)

Solution

At most 4 means

1 , 2 , 3 or 4

frequency of 1 = 8

frequency of 2 = 8

frequency of 3 = 8

frequency of 4 = 12

and total = 60

So

Relative frequency = (8+8+8+12)/60 = 0.6

= 60%
