Salmonella is closely related to Escherichia Why cant Salmon
Salmonella is closely related to Escherichia.
Why can\'t Salmonella be infected by lambda phage?
Why can\'t salmonella be successfully transfected using lambda DNA?
Therefore, this organism is neither a susceptible, nor a permissive host to this virus.
Explain the reason for this failure. Please explain in detail.
Solution
Salmonella cant be infectedby lambdaphase because it has high immunity against it
It cant be transfected using lambda DNA because it causes the DNA which is present in the head of the phage .This is usually ejected through the tail into the cytoplasm of the bacterial cell
It is neither susceptible nor permissive host to virus because it has a strong cell wall and cell membrane which present the virus to attack it .It doesnt let the virus reach the nucleus and thats why it fails.
