Generally, Ho is the opposite of H1.

Thus, we can have three forms, depending on the number of tails.

For two tailed,

Ho: u = uo
Ha: u =/= uo

For right tailed:

Ho: u <= uo
Ha: u > uo

For left tailed:

Ho: u >= uo
Ha: u < uo

Where, uo is the hypothesized value of the parameter u.
