Solution
By observing the morphology of the soil and goo samples, you will find that the microbes aresimilar to microbes previously characterized on Earth. The shapes of the microorganisms foundin the samples are coccus, spirillum, and bacillus. The arrangements in the samples are alsosimilar to those characterized on earth. In the soil sample, there are arrangements of diplococci, streptococci, single bacillus, single spirillum, and clusters of spirillum. In the goo sample, thereare arrangements of bacillus clusters, and a cluster of streptococci. The difference between themicroorganisms in the soil and goo samples compared to microorganisms found on Earth is thesize. Microorganisms found on Earth are typically 2-8m in size, however, the microorganisms found in the goo sample are 0.6-0.8m in size.
