If a plant recieves no light for a couple of days, would it make more or less auxin than one that recieves light evenly from above? Think about what a plant would try to do in response to no light and how auxin is used to control growth.
Solution
From Winston and Briggs experiment we come to know that auxin production is independent of light. Auxin is synthesised in apical meristems of shoots. It causes young stems to bend toward the light when it migrates toward the darker side, where it makes young cell walls more plastic and thereby promotes cell elongation. By interacting with other hormones, auxin can promote an increase in girth and is involved in growth responses to gravity and fruit ripening
