Problem solving Show all your work for each of the problems
Problem solving. Show all your work for each of the problems to obtain partial credits. The experiment consists of two steps. First a fair coin is tossed. If it turns up tails then a fair die is rolled; if it turns up heads and then the coin is tossed once more. Construct a tree diagram to illustrate the problem; Construct a sample space for the experiment; Assign a probability for each possible outcome listed in (b); Find the probability that the die does not come up an odd number.

  Solution
The above shows the tree diagram
b) Sample space = (T1, T2...T6, HH, HT)
c)
d) Prob that die does not show an odd number = P(T2)+P(T4)+P(T6)
=1/4
| Outcome | T1 | T2 | T3 | T4 | T5 | T6 | HH | HT | |
| Prob | 1/12 | 1/12 | 1/12 | 1/12 | 1/12 | 1/12 | 1/4 | 1/4 | 1 |
