This molecule is used by both alpha- and beta-cells to monitor the amount of glucose in the blood.
Solution
Insulin is the molecule which is used by both the cells to monitor the amount of glucose in the blood.
Insulin causes the liver to convert more glucose into glycogen (this process is called glycogenesis). It enhances the entry of glucose into cells and also to store glucose as glycogen or into conversion of fatty acids. It also helps in decreasing blood sugar by enhancing synthesis of fatty acids and proteins. Insulin also suppresses the breakdown of proteins into amino acids.
